Rennicks and Mahon senior winners

On  a day ideal for cross country running there were some great performances in the Meath senior cross country championships. The course which had all the right ingredients and gradients for championship racing was in great condition for the final event of the season.

In the senior mens race Darragh Rennicks returned from his Kansas college for his county champiosnhip and carried the colours of Bohermeen with pride to another fine county senior title. He was a joy to watch powering out from the gun in the company of Luke Forde, Dunboyne. He extended his lead in the mid section of the race as Robbie Matthews, Dunshaughlin patiently worked his way into the silver medal spot. The eventual third placed man Eoin Callaghan continued his impressive return to competitive athletics by taking third and leading his team mates Rob Tully, Andrew Coscoran and brother Neil Callaghan from Star of the Sea to a great win in the team event.

In the womens event Fiona Mahon put in a storming performance score an impressive win. Fiona recently returned to the  Meath club scene when she joined Dunshaughlin AC.and led their team to the club title with Shauna Moran, Linda Fahey and Shauna Moore. Emilia Dan, Dunboyne AC put in another great run for second and club mate Karen O Hanlon took third spot.
