Day 2 of
the National cross country championships was held last week in
Adamstown, Co Wexford. This brings to a close this year’s cross
country season for a large number of juveniles from around the
country. This year has been a real test in terms of endurance and
strength due to the heavy ground conditions.
Na Fianna
Ac had a good cross country season with a number of athletes
qualifying to compete in the National cross country events.
Highlights of the season would have to be Amy Clarkes fantastic 3rd
place in the National U14 girls race held in Tattersalls. The U13/14
girls club team getting 2nd
team prize in both age categories in Leinster. The teams consisted of
Amy Clarke, Sarah Clarke, Emma Neary, Aideen Slattery, Sarah Daly and
Aisling Byrne. The master ladies who were also 2nd
club team in Leinster behind Sportsworld. The team consisted Mary
Hanley, Bridgie Clarke, Imelda Clarke, Maggie Higgins and Margaret
Neary. At the recent Meath Athletics awards, Na Fianna AC was
crowned best juvenile cross country club of the year. This was due
to all the hard work and training both coaches and athletes put in
over the year. Well done to everyone.
