Sheila Mallon, Bohermeen AC has been chosen as the honorary president of Meath Athletics Board for 2011. She received her chain of office from the outgoing president Paddy Joyce, Cushinstown AC at the Meath Athletics Board 2011 Convention in Claremont Stadium on Wednesday 2 February. Sheila was described by county board chairman, Brendan Meade as an ever present worker for her club Bohermeen AC. She occupied the role of county registrar for the many years. He said every event promoted by Bohermeen AC benefits from her guidance and help. She epitomises the great voluntary spririt of Irish sport.
Sheila told the meeting that she was honoured to be chosen and was looking forward to attending the various events in her role over the next year.She thanked the delegates and her club .
On handing over the chain of office Paddy Joyce was particularly pleased to see many children and now grandchildren of people he has met in the sport down the years carrying on the athletics tradition. He was also pleased to be in the company of people outside of the competitive envirnment at the county awards night.
