Dunboyne AC AGM
Members of Dunboyne AC met at DuNboyne Castle on January 29th for the Annual General Meeting.
Looking back at the 2013 season, this has been another great and successful year for the club.
Chairman Michael Cornyn, club Captain Tommy Mc Donnell and Coach Tonny O’Neil mentioned some highlights:
- Dunboyne competing in the National Track & Field league in Santry and Cork
- Ladies winning silver medals in All Ireland Road Relays and gold medals in Meath Road Relays
- Keith Doherty winning titles in pole vault and winning senior athlete of the Year.
- Padraig White and James Mc Cabe competing internationally
- Michael Hanlon winning the Conway Trophy and Mick Quinn Trophy in all Ireland Schools
- Dunboyne AC won 1 gold and 3 silver medals in Master Track&Field.
- Juveniles competed in Meath, Leinster and All Ireland
- Athletes of the year: Keith Doherty, Emilia Dan, Nicola Mc Kiernan and Noreen Geoghan, Aoiffe Kerrigan and George Hutton
Dunboyne AC Chairman congratulated both Seamus Brady for his great job as President of Meath County Board and Secreatry John Holian as Meath County Board Secretary.
Michael Cornyn thanked all the members for the huge support during the year, especially former chairmen Sean and Martin and also vice chairman Theresa Smith.
Few words from President Sean Conroy to celebrate the work, the dedication and achievements of all members and volunteers. Everybody contributes to the success of the club.
The club was founded in 1928 and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2013. With almost 800 members, adults, juveniles and fit4life section, the club continues to grow. Members meet around our 400m track and participate in many races. The big project for the coming year is the upgrade of the track.
Dunboyne AC was largely represented in road races, cross country and athletics all year long with successful results.
Our top athletes did well; few of them were competing at a national/international level with notable success.
Moreover, the club was very well represented in the local and county competitions, teams been many times on the podium.
The club did continue its key event of the year "Dunboyne 4 Miles road race", with almost 1000 runners participating. A huge crowd came to The Cow Park, used to host the Leinster Cross Country. Members participated as well in the Winter League and Christmas Run organised by Josephine and Liam Murtagh.
Were introduced in 2013, two new programs: Couch to 5K and Fit4Youth with an amazing turn out. The Fit4Life section was again very active and popular thanks to the efforts put by its group leaders.
Outside the track, social events such as Family Fun Day, the Annual Dinner Dance in Dunboyne Castle, Fit4Life Award Night played again a key role in the life of the club.

Competition Sec.
AAI Intermediate and masters online entry.
To All Clubs,
These Championships will take place in Dunboyne on Sunday 23rd February 2014. We want to field strong teams in both male and female intermediate and master races as the Championships are taking place within the county.
The development races for juvenile are U11, 13, 15 & 17 ages. 2013 ages apply for the development events and later for the inter county cross country relays.
Juvenile Development Events are open to athletes who HAVE NOT WON an Individual, Regional, County or Club Cross Country medal at the National Championships.
The selectors want clubs to email me back with athletes willing to run on the day.
Those athletes that competed in the Leinster Senior Cross Country Championships in Ballyroan for the county will be automatically included in the teams.
The county would like all athletes to make themselves available for selection and the management team and county board will be disappointed if athletes who do not make themselves available compete in similar races or distances the week before or the week after the Dunboyne event.
Regards,
Brendan Meade
