The Leinster Juvenile Indoor championships took place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February in Nenagh, Co Tipperary. As always there was a big crowd in attendance especially from the larger track & field clubs such as Kilkenny City Harriers, St Laurence O'Toole, Menapians and St Abbans. This year the Na Fianna athletes would not go unnoticed, kitted out in our new lime green sweatshirts, we could be spotted from any angle in the stadium. However, it wasn't just our sweatshirts that caught attention but some of our athletes performances also.
As has been the trend over the last few years, the standard of competition in sprints has increased and this year was no exception. Gone are the days when the fastest wispy kids in the club lined up to run the 60m or the 200m. Nowadays they are powerful, focused and tactically aware so to progress out of your heat is a major achievement. Na Fianna athletes have also embraced these changes and were rewarded for it as can be seen from our results.
