Declan Monaghans euro report

Meath waved its flag proudly at last weekends biennial European U\23 Athletics Championships held in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Moynalvey A.C's Sara Treacy took part in the ladies 1500metres in which she had a gutsy weekends performance taking an amazing 3seconds off her personal best in the heat running 4mins 16.23 to secure a place in Sundays final in which she finished an outstanding 10th position overall.

Star of the Sea A.C and Julianstown's own Kourosh Foroughi competed in the mens high jump event, in which he reached Sundays final. He competed bravely among europes top U/23 jumpers to clear 2metres 18cm but failed at the 2.21 height to finish in a highly credible 7th place overall.

Athboy's Declan Monaghan also made the trip with Team Ireland. The DCU based Athletic Therapist was a member of the Irish squads medical team assisting with injury treatments and recovery sessions over the competition period.
